“Find Me.”

These are the words written on Tessa Waye’s diary. The diary that ends up with Wick Tate. But Tessa’s just been found . . . dead.

Wick has the right computer-hacking skills for the job, but little interest in this perverse game of hide-and-seek. Until her sister Lily is the next target.

Then Griff, trailer-park boy next door and fellow hacker, shows up, intent on helping Wick. Is a happy ending possible with the threat of Wick’s deadbeat dad returning, the detective hunting him sniffing around Wick instead, and a killer taunting her at every step?

Foster child. Daughter of a felon. Loner hacker girl. Wick has a bad attitude and sarcasm to spare.

But she’s going to find this killer no matter what.

Because it just got personal.

It has been up to Wick to protect her sister Lily ever since their criminal father was put into jail and their mother committed suicide. Their new foster parents Bren and Todd have given the girls a second chance, but Wick has trust issues. Everything changes when Wick finds a copy of Tessa's diary on her front porch the night after Tessa committed suicide. From the diary, Wick finds out that Tessa was in an abusive relationship with an older man. Upon discovering that his next target is Lily, Wick decides to investigate why Tessa killed herself and who caused it.

I like Wick. She has gone through a lot in her life, and these situations have strengthened her greatly. She struggles with doing the right thing and using her hacking abilities for good. I also love the beautiful relationship between Wick and her sister Lily. Wick’s every decision is all for the sake of her younger sister. There is a also bit of romance blossoming between Griff and Wick. While I like how it isn't the focus of the book, I would like to get to know more about Griff’s story and his attraction to Wick. All we know about Griff is that he is a hacker, and he helps Wick to find the killer. Hopefully, we'll get to see more depth to their relationship in book two.

Though it is suggested that Wick’s hacking activities are integral to the plot, it does not feel like much of a challenge because all she needs to do is track an IP, which was disappointing because I really wanted to see more of her hacking abilities. I do like how Tessa’s diary is incorporated into the storyline. You can really feel Tessa’s despair and hopelessness. I enjoyed learning more about Tessa, and her story adds to the suspense by making you hope that Wick will catch the culprit in time to save Lily.

Even though the culprit is obvious from the beginning, the predictability didn't really affect my enjoyment of the book because the storyline maintains a good mystery and suspense throughout the book, and the plot moved fairly quickly.

  1. I was much the same with this one. I wanted to know more about Griff (though I liked what we did get to know about him) and the fact that I figured out whodunnit early on didn't really bother me and I still had fun reading it. Great review!
