Synopsis

Free from bonds, but not each other

It’s time to choose sides… On the surface, Sorry-in-the-Vale is a sleepy English town. But Kami Glass knows the truth. Sorry-in-the-Vale is full of magic. In the old days, the Lynburn family ruled with fear, terrifying the people into submission in order to kill for blood and power. Now the Lynburns are back, and Rob Lynburn is gathering sorcerers so that the town can return to the old ways.

But Rob and his followers aren’t the only sorcerers in town. A decision must be made: pay the blood sacrifice, or fight. For Kami, this means more than just choosing between good and evil. With her link to Jared Lynburn severed, she’s now free to love anyone she chooses. But who should that be?

Untold picks up where Unspoken left off with Kami and her friends fighting evil. The book is centered around Kami fighting back against the sorcerers. It’s a promising setup, but the story devotes much of its time to relationship angst when I wanted to get to know more about the magic of the Lynburns. In fact, the first half of the book focuses on relationships and issues. It makes the plot a kind of insubstantial and untied.

Character-wise, I love that Kami is smart and strong. Kami doesn’t have magical power, and she is so brave to face the betrayals, the terrify truth of Rob's plan, and still have the determination to save the town and the people she cares about. I also like that Kami has a strong bond with her family, which is absent in too many YA novels.

Untold has strong characters, and the romance is sweet. I would like to see it more about saving Sorry-in-the-Vale. The ending of the book is really unexpected. Overall, it is a decent read for those who love mysteries and romance.
