Imagine This: Defying the Law

Saturday, August 25, 2012

Imagine This is a feature hosted by Austin at Imaginary Reads where he comes up with a question that asks readers to explore a book and come up with an outcome using the power of imagination.

2 weeks ago I asked you guys who you would choose to be stranded with.

Congratulations to Mary D. for winning the giveaway.

Mary D., send us an e-mail and we'll arrange for your book to be sent to you.

  1. I'd definitely go against the law for racial discrimination and discrimination against women. It's just all so wrong. And in fact, I've always wished that I was born a little earlier so I would have been 18 during the 1960's so I could have done just that and participating actively in the civil rights and women's rights movements.

    Thanks for the great giveaway.

I'd go against the law against making abortions legal. In my mind, there are many other ways to deal with an unexpected pregnancy. Adoption for one. I was adopted. There's nothing wrong with it. There are some people out there that can't have a child. Sure, some would say that you are killing nothing, that the fetus isn't a human yet, but in all actuality, it is. It can grow up to be an adult one day. I'm still growing. I'm only 17.

Thank you! Defiance sounds pretty good. :D

    I tweeted too! :

  4. That everyone is created equal. man, woman, disabled, gay, black, white, ect.

  5. I think that I would fight everybody that came at me if they tried to take away the basic freedom that we take so for granted. I relish my freedom to do what I want whether that be work, play, love or lay in bed all day and read. I also have to admit that I would move heaven and earth to protect my family and if any of them were in danger, I would be like Katniss in The Hunger Games and volunteering to take their place.

  6. i've been actively fighting for gay rights, as i have many gay friends. marrying should be an option for every person, gay or straight. I won't stop until it's legal in all 50 states :) thanks for the giveaway! i also tweeted:

I would definitely go against the law and fight for gay rights. I've grown up alongside many people and have been the first person that many have come out to. It hurts to see my friend sink into a depression because she knows her Dad's a homophobe and her mom thinks her sexuality is just a phase. Though I am straight, I'm a huge supporter of gay rights and forever will be. I've grown up with these people and I never want them hurt, you know? They're just like us and they can't control who they love. It's not as if you can choose the color of your skin or the religion of your family when you're born. Their sexuality is simply part of them. It's disturbing that people are constantly saying how we're an accepting country full of equality when so many people battle against giving these people rights. Florida even banned homosexuals from adopting children and some people veto bills for gay rights whether they agree with it or not because they know it could potentially hurt them in the next election. People attach Obama for being the first President that openly supports gays. It's absurd that we're denying people in our society their rights. There's hundreds of species on the planet and we're the only one with homophobia. This will forever irritate me. We've had Civil Rights movements become successful in the past, and this is the Civil Rights movement of our generation. I KNOW that equality will be granted eventually and I sure as hell hope it will be in my lifetime because as time moves on, we're more and more accepting. But this is certainly a problem that I want solved ASAP, especially seeing how much the hatred towards homosexuals impacts some people that are very important to me.

I totally just ranted haha, but this was a really good question. If I win, I don't know if I'll accept this prize or not. I sort of already have an eARC of Defiance, though my Kindle is now broken. But I wanted to participate in this anyway. Thank you!

  8. I am not quite sure, but it would probably involve saving someone I love
