Characters in Love: Wellie

Thanks to Momo from Books Over Boys for joining us here today!

Hi everyone! I was ecstatic when Kris contacted me and asked if I wanted to write up a blog post about Will and Ellie from Courtney Allison Moulton's Angelfire series because if there's anything you need to know about me, it's that I am unconditionally and positively in love with this astounding, one of a kind series!

ANGELFIRE ArtToday, I am here to discuss with all of you the love between Will and Ellie, otherwise known as Wellie. The love between Will and Ellie is...probably the main reason why I am crazy about this series. The way how Moulton describes the push and pull between them two to the stubborness and pride that comes with being in a relationship to the whole forbidden-ness of their whole relationship even existing is enough to push me crazy into delirum!

Will and Ellie compliment each other in every way possible. Will is Ellie's guardian and he understands Ellie inside out and outside in! His loyalty to Ellie is unbelievable. For example,
"Ellie, you need to understand," he said softly. "I exist only to serve you and fight by your side. Whether that fighting is to preserve your life or to make sure you smile, that is what I am built to do. You're all I have, and I will watch over you forever."
Also,
He reached forward to cup my cheek, the touch surprising me.
"Please understand that no matter what I am or what has happened in the past, I am yours. I am devoted to you above all else, including my own life."
I exhaled after holding my breath for what felt like forever. "That's pretty heavy, Will."
His expression was impassioned, and the backs of his fingers brushed the side of my neck.
"It is a burden I am glad to carry."
Dude, this is me right now.

Like really?! If I was Ellie and Will said that to me, whoo! I don't know what I would do. I'd probably flat-line for a split second then come back to life. ;)

And this is what I meant when I said that Will and Ellie are so in tuned with one another.
As I listened and watched, I knew he was as perfectly aware of me as I was of him, though he kept his infallible rhythm. I knew he could sense every inch of my skin from across the floor, as I could his, feeling every thread of the powerful centuries-old bond we shared. In that moment my lips grew numb and something spun deliciously warm in my chest. In that precise moment I knew I was undeniably in love with him.
And I'm probably a bit biased, seeing that I love Will so much that I probably made it seem like Ellie doesn't love Will at all but this quote here almost, sorta explains it all.
I caught a glimpse of Will out the corner of my eye. He was doubled over with one hand on the wall to hold himself up, his eyes squeezed tight and mouth open in physical agony—as if someone had slammed him in the chest with a hammer. I stopped in the crowd, staring at him as he struggled to right himself, Ava’s hand on his back, her expression full of worry. But he pushed her away and forced himself to stand tall as he searched wildly over the heads of my friends and classmates, looking for me. Then he barreled through the crowd, spinning and turning in every direction, calling my name in a fearful voice. I studied him, perplexed, and the truth of what I’d just witnessed hit me like a truck. He always knew when I was upset or in pain. Our bond, the magic that I put into his tattoos binding him to me, our bond that allowed him to know what I was feeling… He always knew I was in pain because my pain caused him to hurt. The agony I felt at that moment spilled into him, making him feel through pain what I felt emotionally. I did that to him. I caused him pain. I was cancer, a disease on everyone who knew and loved me.
Along with this awesome quote as well.
But he was there. Day and night he was there for me, risking his very existence to protect me from a war that claimed my life over and over again. He never faltered, never wavered, never feared for his own safety. He was beaten, stabbed, abused, and tortured again and again, yet he still stuck by me, ignoring the possibility that he would die for me one day. It wasn't right. I didn't deserve everything he sacrificed for me. I wasn't worth so high a price.
I could go on for days and days and days on why Ellie and Will are the perfect couple but it pretty much just comes down to...BECAUSE THEY JUST ARE. ;)

Thanks so much, Kris for having me today! And because I love .gifs so much, here's one for you:
