5 stars: Incredible /KEEPER!!!
Series: Angelfire #2
Hardback: 516 Pages
Publication: January 31, 2012 by Katherine Tegen Books

Life as the Preliator is harder than Ellie ever imagined.
Balancing real life with the responsibility of being Heaven’s warrior is a challenge for Ellie. Her relationship with Will has become all business, though they both long for each other. And now that the secret of who she really is has come out, so have Hell’s strongest reapers. Grown bold and more vicious, the demonic threaten her in the light of day and stalk her in the night.

She’s been warned.
Cadan, a demonic reaper, comes to her with information about Bastian’s new plan to destroy Ellie’s soul and use an ancient relic to wake all the souls of the damned and unleash them upon humanity. As she fights to stay ahead of Bastian’s schemes , the revelations about those closest to her awaken a dark power within Ellie that threatens to destroy everything—including herself.

She’ll be betrayed.
Treachery comes even from those whom she loves, and Ellie is broken by the deaths of those who stood beside her in this Heavenly war. Still, she must find a way to save the world, herself, and her love for Will. If she fails, there will be hell to pay.

I'm in love all over again. I love Ellie and her friends, I love the steamy chemistry between her and Will, and I love the epic, gory battles in all their detail (yes, I said it). I thought Angelfire was packed with action, and Courtney Allison Moulton has upped the stakes along with the adrenaline rushes in Wings of the Wicked.

Angelfire introduced Cadan as an ethereally beautiful, mysterious demonic vir with questionable intentions, and Wings of the Wicked establishes his loyalties. I fell more in love with him, and I will see much more of him in book three. No, I wouldn't say there is a love triangle. That would involve Ellie juggling two guys. There is no way Ellie and Will can be separated! Sure, any girl would be tempted by Cadan's beauty, but it doesn't mean she'll seriously consider getting together with him. Okay, I want him, but Ellie is obviously in love with Will. And they are impossibly cute and sexy together! Wings is filled with Will and Ellie bantering, kissing, teasing. Kissing. I can't see Ellie with another guy.

Best of all, there are more battle scenes. Courtney writes EPIC battle scenes. I love her attention to detail, gore and all. Everything flows together in logical sequence with epic proportions that left me tingling with an adrenaline high. Not to mention the upped stakes. Bastian is evil enough, and now we find out more to his schemes. In between battles, we glimpse Ellie trying to live a normal high school student's life, and we get to see a lot of banter. Ellie and her friends, reapers and mortals alike, have wonderful sense of humor. LOVE!

Even as she finds herself targeted by more enemies, Ellie gains super-cool new allies and discovers more about her relationship with Will and others. Wings exposes secrets, betrayal, and characters' true intentions. There is death, and there are revelations. Ellie must now decide what she is willing to sacrifice in order to protect humanity.

I would have given this a million stars if Goodreads allowed it. I am a huge Courtney Allison Moulton fan. To borrow a line from Momo at Books Over Boys, I'm a reaper for life.

Courtney, until you finally bestow book three upon us, I will be rereading Angelfire and Wings of the Wicked in high anticipation of the finale. Man am I sad that this must come to an end.

  10. I haven't read the series either, but I am on the look for action-y books and this series seems to fit the bill.

I love how you say you're sad that this series is coming to an end, sometimes when I am reading a series I will have an inner-fight with myself of wanting to read through it ASAP but the other part of me wants to take it slow so I have more of it. I always hate to finish a good series because if it's super good for me, then whatever I read after that just seems lackluster in comparison (even when it is an extremely good book!)

Thanks for the review! I'm looking forward to getting into this series.
